Hyundai Elantra recommended oil

5W-20

Oil recommendations

Hyundai recommends using 5W-20 or 5W-30 engine oil in 2014 Hyundai Elantra at all temperatures, but you can choose 10W-30 oil if the temperature does not drop below 0 degrees F before your next scheduled oil change. You can use normal or synthetic oil in your Elantra without changing the viscosity. The Elantra engine requires 4.2 liters of oil to refill.

In any weather

The 2010 Hyundai Elantra Owner’s Manual recommends the use of 5W-20 engine oil for optimum fuel economy over a wide temperature range, from about -15 degrees Fahrenheit to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. However, this type of oil is not available in some countries and 5W-30 is recommended in its place.

Extreme Temperatures

Cars driven in extremely cold temperatures may require oils with low “winter weights”. Conversely, cars driven in extremely hot summers or in year-round warm climates, such as parts of the South and Southwest United States, may require engine oils with higher viscosities. In the case of the Hyundai Elantra, 10W-30 oil is recommended for best performance in warm weather conditions.

Conventional vs. Synthetic

Conventional engine oil is produced from the refining of crude oil. Synthetic oil, which is made from natural ingredients, is scientifically designed so that the molecules are larger and are combined in different ways. While some car owners prefer synthetic oil because it is slightly more resistant to extreme temperatures, Hyundai recommends the use of conventional oil in the Elantra.

The right engine oil is important for the right performance and a long life and reliability of the car.

The right oil ensures that the engine runs smoothly. Oil is formed between the mechanical parts of the coating, preventing the parts from being directly connected to each other for spawning and protecting the engine.

The oil also protects the HYUNDAI Elantra/Lantra/Avante 1.6 engine from dirt and oxidation. Depends only on the oil. Oil is produced in different viscosity. Viscosity is a measure of internal friction. What is the oil heat, this is the internal friction of the higher rate. For comparison: honey has a higher viscosity than water. The viscosity depends directly on the ambient and internal temperature and must correspond to a certain engine. The viscosity of the oil, to find out directly from the designation. Oils are called 5W-30. The first number indicates the viscosity of a cold, which indicates the following letter (W=WINTER), the first number is lower, the oil less viscous. The low-viscosity cold helps the engines to start better in cold environments because it produces less resistance. The second number indicates the viscosity at high temperatures. This must also meet the requirements of your engine.

Mineral and synthetic oils are suitable for HYUNDAI Elantra/Lantra/Avante 1.6?

There are mineral, semi-synthetic and full synthetic oils. Mineral oils are produced from crude oil, which is industrially processed and produced without impurities and undesirable components such as waxes. Synthetic oils are produced by more complex chemical processes that ensure their purity. Synthetic oil protects the engine better, especially during starting, when parts are subjected to the greatest stress. They are also more heat resistant and better protected against oxidation.

How often should you change oil in Hyundai Elantra?

How often should you change the oil in your Hyundai?

There are many types of maintenance your Hyundai needs, but one that your vehicle needs regularly is an oil change. Determining how long you can go back and forth between oil changes has long been a discussion point, and we will not pretend to completely resolve this debate. However, we can help you get a better idea of how often you should change the oil in your Hyundai.

Find out about the services Hyundai recommends based on mileage.

At and every 7,500 miles

When your Hyundai Elantra’s odometer reads 7,500 miles, it is ready for its first maintenance check. This includes

  • Oil and filter change
  • Tire rotation
  • Inspection of the air filter
  • Inspection of suction hoses

At and every 15,000 miles.

With every 15,000 miles driven, your Hyundai Elantra requires a thorough inspection of the most important parts. Since it was another 7,500 miles, your vehicle will need its second oil change and tire rotation. The air filter and suction hose should also be checked.

Here is what else is needed:

Inspect:

  • Refrigerant for air conditioning
  • Brakes (hoses, lines, discs/pads, brake calipers, drums, linings, parking brakes)
  • Drive shafts and sleeves
  • Exhaust pipe and silencer
  • Steering gear, linkage and boots, upper and lower arm ball joints
  • Suspension bolts

Replace:

  • Automatic air conditioning Air filter/air conditioning filter

…and repeat!

Once you have your Hyundai Elantra serviced at the above intervals, follow the pattern between the maintenance required every 7,500 miles and the additional inspections and replacements required every 15,000 miles, and you will be on your way to a happy Hyundai.

At 22,500 miles: Standard 7,500-mile services will be provided.

At 30,000 miles: Standard 15,000 miles services are plus:

Check brake fluid, crankcase breather hose and fuel components (filters, lines, hoses, connections, air filters).

At 37,500 miles: Your Elantra requires the standard 7,500-mile services to complete.

At 45,000 miles: Standard services of 15,000 miles are provided.

At 52,500 miles: Standard 7,500 mileage services are due.

At 60,000 miles: The services required for 30,000 miles are repeated.
