A nice idea for all those who have to deal with rusty surfaces: Instead of painstakingly mechanically working the metal to rid it of all corrosion products, it is simply painted or sprayed with a rust converter.

Motorcycle lighting is a piece of equipment that undoubtedly affects safety on the road. Do you want your motorcycle headlights to be much brighter and lighter? In this guide, we’ll tell you how to choose H4 bulbs for your motorcycle.

The most common motorcycle headlight bulbs include H1, H4, and H7 bulbs. These are lamps with high intensity, emitting a very bright light. Some models of Bikes may require two bulbs for low and high beams or one bulb with both filaments.

If you are not sure which bulbs fit your headlights, it is best to consult your motorcycle manual. This way, you can avoid installing the wrong variety, which may have the wrong power level.

How do I choose an H4 bulb for my motorcycle?

When choosing a headlight bulb you should always consider that there are 4 basic types of headlight bulbs:

Halogen H4 headlight bulbs

Most bikes are equipped with halogen bulbs at the time of production, making this type of bulb much more affordable. Some LED and hidden bulb manufacturers claim that halogen lamps aren’t bright enough, but that’s not always the case. Brightness does not depend on the type of bulb, but on the luminance rating in LM. Halogen bulbs can be bright enough, and most motorcyclists have no problem being seen when navigating a dark road.

Xenon H4 headlight bulbs

These bulbs are very similar to the halogen bulbs above, but the xenon bulbs use a mixture of xenon and halogen gases. The xenon bulb helps the bulb emit a clearer, brighter, and slightly bluer light. To give the headlights a distinctive light, different manufacturers use different ratios of gases in the bulb.

H4 LED headlight bulbs

These bulbs use less energy and have an exceptionally long life compared to halogen bulbs. LED bulbs also emit a brighter beam due to their ability to use more energy than standard halogen bulbs.

LED bulbs shine much brighter than halogen. The angle of illumination has increased significantly. On the low beam, you can see a wide band, with a blurred shadow border. But the high beam disappointed me, if the dipped beam is still more or less okay, then this is no good at all. Shines like a spotlight, all around the perimeter. You can partially solve this problem by simply adjusting the headlights by lowering the reflector down. This way the low beam will be even clearer, and the high beam will not dazzle oncoming drivers so much.

The Best H4 Motorcycle Bulbs

Why is it so important to have good lighting on a motorcycle?

Bad light is a significant problem, especially if we are driving at night or in bad weather conditions. In addition, all the small obstacles in the way with poor lighting are a big threat to the motorcyclist. Therefore, to ensure safety on the road, it is worth considering buying good quality motorcycle bulbs.

The fact that you should buy original bulbs from reliable and trusted outlets knows every conscientious driver. However, in the case of motorcycle lighting, there are several important parameters that you should pay attention to when buying.

There are basic indicators, and only by them, you can pick up a lamp without vermicelli and noodles on your ears.

  1. For the lamp socket (e.g. H4), you need to use the lamps recommended by the motorcycle manufacturer.
  2. The brightness of the light is the main parameter, not only for incandescent and motorcycle bulbs but also for cars, although in the first case, the choice should be more reasonable. A good quality of light that gives several tens of percent lighter than standard halogen bulbs, is a longer beam of light, which naturally affects the improvement of visibility, increasing the safety of driving at night and in bad weather conditions.
  3. Shock resistance is a property of halogen bulbs that is especially important for motorcycle owners. The inevitable vibrations and oscillations while riding, when using high quality lighting does not affect the life of the bulbs, so they can burn much longer.
  4. Type of light source – when choosing bulbs for a motorcycle, you should keep in mind that such vehicles have a rather low power grid.

Therefore, when buying this product, it is worth checking what type of lighting is intended for your motorcycle. It is best to buy LED products, as they consume less current.

How do I install an H4 bulb?

Installing the bulbs is not difficult, but very long, I had to completely disassemble or reassemble the entire front. First, put the O-ring on the grooves. We choose the adapter we need, press it a little to the ring, and turn it sideways. Thus we have fixed the adapter on the lamp and now it can be inserted into the headlight. There is also an easier way: you can first screw the adapter to the headlight itself, and then insert the lamp in it. But in this way there is a small nuance: if you have chosen a more rigid gasket, you will have to make an effort to get the lamp on it, went into the grooves and you can screw it in. The main thing is not to damage the reflector housing.
