Jeep Engine Oil Price
Over time, all things in the automotive industry change. The style of cars changes, gasoline prices skyrocket and even the laws of the road change with time. The engines in the cars are not exempt from the changes in the automobile. What is under the hood of a 2014 model is very different from what is under the hood of a twenty-year-old car. If you say that, with the change of engines comes a change of oil treatment.
Best engine oil for Jeep
1. Quaker State Advanced Durability Motor Oil 5W-20
Buy Quaker State Advanced Durability Motor Oil 5W-20
Quaker State Advanced Durability Motor Oils are formulated to provide consistent wear and viscosity protection throughout the life of the oil. Independent laboratory tests show that Quaker State Advanced Durability exceeds the industry standard for wear protection three times over. The used oil (standard drain, for the vehicle), also passes the industry standard. Wear is one of the biggest enemies your engine is exposed to. It can reduce engine life and rob you of performance. That is why Advanced Durability Motor Oils are designed to reduce wear and protect against high temperatures and harsh operation.
Pros:
- Protects against corrosion and contains acid-neutralizing additives that prevent combustion acids from corroding your engine.
- Meets or exceeds the North American warranty requirements of the world’s automakers, including European, Japanese and US

2. Joe Gibbs Driven Synthetic Racing Motor Oil XP1 5W-20
Buy Joe Gibbs Driven Synthetic Racing Motor Oil XP1 5W-20
The racing oils driven by Joe Gibbs are specially formulated for racing engines. Today’s car engine oils are designed to protect catalytic converters. Joe Gibbs driven oils are designed to protect your camshaft. Federal EPA requirements have resulted in a reduction of anti-wear chemicals such as zinc, phosphorus and sulphur in API-rated engine oils. The result is that the oil you buy today is not the same as it was 10 years ago. While this is good news for your road vehicle, it is bad news for your racing engine. Racing engines see more revolutions per minute and higher loads compared to road engines, so a racing engine needs higher amounts of zinc, phosphorus, sulphur and other additives to prevent premature failure of parts. This is especially true for flat tappet motors. Joe Gibbs racing oil contains all the right additives such as zinc, phosphorus and sulphur in addition to the highest quality base oils to protect your engine.
Engine oil is made from crude oil and is used for lubrication, cleaning and cooling of engines. Engine oil types include conventional, synthetic, diesel, bio and hybrid oils (mixtures of conventional and synthetic oils) and recycled oils. Engine oil varies in weight and viscosity and in the additives that some manufacturers add to the oil during the refining process. A numerical code system developed by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) classifies engine oils according to their viscosity – the higher the number between 0 and 60, the more viscous (thicker) the oil is. Most consumer engine oils are classified with two numbers, the first number indicating cold weather performance (winter or “W”).
This oil has a weight of SAE 5W-20, i.e. it has a SAE viscosity of 5 at cold temperatures and 20 at normal operating temperature. Always check in the owner’s manual for your vehicle to ensure that this is the correct weight of engine oil for your vehicle.
Pros:
- High zinc content – A higher zinc content (ZDP) provides adequate wear protection for high-performance engines and camshafts with flat tappets
- Extra Film Thickness – Advanced synthetics technology for thicker films at high temperatures and high loads
- Thermal stability – protects against oil consumption and viscosity reduction
- Storage protection – Protects against moisture drawn into the engine by modern biofuels. Uses a tough oil film technology developed for the U.S. military. Perfect for winter storage.
Cons:
- Difficult to find in the store

3. Valvoline Advanced Full Synthetic Motor Oil SAE 5W-30
Buy Valvoline Advanced Full Synthetic Motor Oil SAE 5W-30
Valvoline maintains extremely high standards for its flagship 5W30 synthetic flagship oil and adds superior detergents and protection to its Group IV base oils.
When your engine gets hot, your valves and pistons are fully protected even with the cold-starting, lower viscosity grade of a 5W30 blend.
With industry’s increasing demand for highly efficient engine oil and more and more engines requiring a special, exclusively synthetic oil, Synpower easily meets the stringent lubricant requirements of many manufacturers.
Lower viscosity also means that if you run a turbocharger or compressor on your engine, your oil will be able to withstand the higher temperature extremes associated with high performance parts.
Best of all, the additive blend ensures that your engine remains mud and paint free for vehicles under 125,000 miles, improving or maintaining fuel efficiency and overall engine life.
While this is an excellent choice for newer vehicles with less than 125,000 miles on the odometer, older vehicles will most likely benefit from the Synpower high mileage oil blend because it contains superior detergent additives and protective agents not found in the standard Synpower blend.
When purchasing synthetic oil for your vehicle, always follow the manufacturer’s recommendations as described on the container.
Pros:
- Made in America
- 100% synthetic oil
- Superior cold start performance and protection
Cons:
- May require some intake oil changes while your engine is flushing out existing deposits.
- May not be fully effective on older engines with high mileage
4. Valvoline High Mileage Synthetic Blend Motor Oil SAE 5W-30
Buy Valvoline High Mileage Synthetic Blend Motor Oil SAE 5W-30
This synthetic oil blend contains seal conditioners that restore aging engine seals to assist in stopping and preventing oil leaks. Additional wear protection prevents engine wear, and additional detergents remove sludge and deposits to keep engines cleaner with high mileage. In addition, antioxidants prevent oil from precipitating and clogging the engine with sludge and deposits.
The quality of this engine oil is excellent for the price, and it has some of the advantages of a full synthetic oil with a much lower price. It does an excellent job of stopping and reducing leakage and is thick enough to extend the life of old seals on engines over 100,000 miles. It lasts well over time and ensures that the engine runs quietly, smoothly and overall well. It does a better job than conventional oil of trapping dirt and engine deposits.
Like all engine oils, it will fail depending on driving style and weather conditions. It will not improve performance on heavily worn engines. This oil also does not meet the General Motors dexos standard.
Pros:
- Seal conditioners rejuvenate ageing engine seals to prevent oil leakage.
- Additional wear protection helps to prevent future engine wear
- Additional detergents keep older engines cleaner by bonding with and removing sludge and debris.
- Antioxidants help prevent oil spills by preventing the formation of engine sludge and deposits.
Cons:
- Like all motor oils, this one will fail, depending on driving style and weather conditions.
- It will not improve performance on heavily worn engines.

Recommended Motor Oil For Jeep
What is different?
The type of oil recommended for new cars is different from that recommended in the past. The cars of the last ten years have been designed to run on synthetic oil instead of conventional oil. Synthetic oil is designed to last longer and perform better. Once upon a time, you needed an oil change every 3,000 miles. This is not the case with most synthetic oils. They have increased the life of the engine oil between 5,000 and 7,000 miles before an oil change is necessary. Some synthetic oils do not need an oil change for up to 15,000 miles!
Jeep Engine Oil Type
Older cars were designed to run on conventional oil. Conventional oil has a thicker molecular structure and does not last as long as synthetic oil.
However, it is cheaper and does its job. It would not be wise to install synthetic oil in an older car against its will. Just as a cartridge was not designed for your CD player, synthetic oil was not developed for older engines.
Take it away:
In the end, every engine is different and you should not blindly decide which type of oil to use or when to have an oil change done. Reach into the glove compartment and pull out the manual. It contains all the information you need to keep your engine running as long as possible.
Jeep Cherokee oil change:
- First, run the engine to heat the oil. This will make it run more freely.
- Use a 9/16 wrench to remove the oil drain cap from the jeep’s oil pan. Be careful because the oil is hot when the engine is running. Do not apply used engine oil to hands or skin. It is highly carcinogenic. Drain the oil completely and collect it in a suitable oil pan or container.
- Once all the oil has drained, remove the oil filter. It is located directly under the dipstick. When installing a new oil filter, apply some new engine oil on and around the rubber seal. Replace the oil drain cap.
- Refill the engine with 6 US-Quarts engine oil SAE 10w30. In colder climates, 5w30 can be used. Take care not to fill too much oil by checking the level on the dipstick. When the correct level is reached, replace the oil filler cap and run the engine for about 30 seconds to allow the oil to circulate around the engine and into the new filter. Now check the level and top up if necessary.
- API SL or ACEA A3 compliant oil should be used. API SM and SN oil does not provide the wear protection required by the flat tappets in the AMC 242 engine.
Jeep Wrangler motor oil
Changing the engine oil in a 2012-2018 Jeep Wrangler is really not the impossible task that many imagine, or what car dealers and car dealerships across the country display in their advertising. In fact, jeep enthusiasts of all skill levels can easily tackle this project. In addition, many certainly do when the time is right. All you need are a few simple tools, maybe a few jack stands, depending on whether the vehicle is in stock or lifted, and you can get the project done without spending an afternoon in a waiting room with stale coffee.
Best oil brands for Jeep Wrangler
Ask all 12 mechanics and car owners which brand of oil is best for their car and you will probably get eight or nine different answers. Your choice of oil for your 2016 Jeep Wrangler is extremely subjective. There are a number of high quality and respected oils on the market, including Exxon, Pennzoil, Valvoline and Mobil. All of these oils offer excellent and reliable performance.
Fundamentals of oil viscosity
The numbers on the bottles all refer to the thickness of the oil at certain temperature thresholds. Where 0 is the viscosity of water, higher numbers mean thicker/thinner oils. In short, a 5w-30 oil flows faster than a 10w-40 oil.
The “w” in viscosity indicates the viscosity of the oil at winter temperatures. In general, a faster flowing oil is desirable at colder temperatures, as this means that more internals receive oil faster at start up than a slower flowing oil, which reduces wear on your engine.
With regard to transmission oil, you will see ratings such as GL-3 and GL-4. The higher the number, the more lubricity the transmission oil has, but also the more additives. The main difference between the two was initially the EP additive, which consists of phosphorus and sulphur compounds that corrode metals such as copper and bronze. It goes without saying that the EP additives eat up the synchronizers, as much as a better lubricant is good for your trans. Nowadays the main differences between GL-3, GL-4 and GL-5 are pressure additives.
Jeep Grand Cherokee motor oil
The recommended engine oil for 2015 Jeep Cherokee models with 4-cylinder engines is an oil with a viscosity of 0W-20 and meets Chrysler MS-6395 quality standards. The recommended engine oil for 6-cylinder models is an oil with a viscosity of 5W-20 and meets Chrysler MS-6395 quality standards.
Jeep oil leak between engine and transmission
If it is engine oil, the rear main seal (large ring seal between crankshaft and engine block) is probably leaking. If you have a manual transmission, it could be manual transmission oil (which usually smells like sulfur) coming from the transmission input shaft seal, which seals between the splined transmission input shaft and the transmission case. If you have an automatic transmission, it could be ATF coming from the torque converter or the transmission input shaft seal on the transmission. ATF has a red color and feels more slippery than normal engine oil.
Engine oil for Jeep Grand Cherokee
Fill the engine back up with 6 U.S. quarts of SAE 10w30 motor oil. In colder climates, 5w30 may be used.
Engine oil for Jeep Liberty
Jeep Liberty 2012, Pro High Performance SAE 5W-20 Synthetic Blend Motor Oil.
