Ensuring that your Toyota receives the best oil is just as important as planning routine oil changes. Every 3,000 to 6,000 miles, you need to ensure that the fluid flowing into your vehicle provides the highest level of protection to extend life and improve engine performance. So which oil brands are the best for your Toyota vehicle?

To answer that and ensure that your vehicle works like new for years to come, we are here with your guide to the best oil brands for your vehicle. Take a look at this below!

Best motor oil for Toyota Tacoma
Selection of the best oil brand

There is a ton of oil brands to choose from for your Toyota. Exxon, Pennzoil, and Mobil – they are all popular mechanics of oil brands in Escondido, Kearny Mesa and San Diego who supplied the engine protection for their cars. However, what is the best?

Unfortunately, the answer to this frequent question is not so simple. If you ask a few technicians to select the best ones, chances are they will choose a different option. Why? Because all major oil brands are considered the best. Each of them is known for its impressive qualities and performance, so no brand is really better than any other is.

With what is said, you should not be based on what goes into your car based on what the best brand is. Instead, you should make sure that your car is always the type of oil that best suits its needs.

The right oil is the best oil

All of the best brands of engine oil offer a variety of types. Two of the most common are synthetic and conventional.
Synthetic oil is used for newer cars. It is a high quality fluid with few impurities that provides excellent lubrication and protection and has been specially developed for vehicles with modern engines such as the new Toyota Tacoma or Toyota Prius.

It can also be used at hot and cold temperatures. In addition, synthetic oil changes are required less frequently. With this, your Toyota oil change must plan every 6,000 miles.

Conventional oil works for all vehicles, but it is most commonly used for older Toyota low mileage vehicles. It contains more impurities than synthetic oils, but may also contain performance additives. These additives can provide the specific heat resistance, protective properties and viscosity required by certain vehicles.

Another common type of oil is high mileage oil. This applies to vehicles with more than 75,000 miles and provides a high level of protection and lubrication to extend engine life.

Buy Royal Purple 51020 API-Licensed SAE 0W-20 High Performance Synthetic Motor Oil

View on Amazon

When comparing different high-performance engine oils, it helps to know the background of the company.

In this case, Royal Purple has made a name for itself by working with racing cars, which means that the brand knows one or two things to make sure its oil works well under pressure.

Specifications:

  • Industry standards: ACEA A3/B3-04, API SN, ILSAC GF-5, GM Dexos 1
  • Basic inventory: Group IV

Overall, this fully synthetic oil is designed to protect your engine from metal-to-metal contact in all conditions.

Whether you drive down the racetrack or into the mall, your car will be in peak mode when you switch to Royal Purple.

As such, I recommend buying this oil only if you have a car that can handle it.

Strangely enough, even though Royal Purple is somewhat tricky with certain makes and models, this special version is designed to be compatible with both ethanol-based fuels and diesel engines.

This creates a little paradox as it is always less versatile than other oils I have seen.

Pros:

  • Improved additives protect against metal-to-metal contact
  • Optimizes fuel efficiency
  • Protects the catalytic emission system
  • More compatible with ethanol-based fuels
  • Excellent corrosion protection
  • Reduces sludge and deposits
  • Suitable for cold starts
  • Ideal for modern engines

Cons:

  • Not recommended for all vehicles

  • Perfect engine cleaning
  • Minimizes emissions
  • Frictionless additives
  • Compatibility with wide engines

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Full is known for its effective cleaning and lubricating properties and is a fully synthetic engine oil that generally puts your car in the best possible condition. Because it is 99.5% pure base oil, you do not have to worry about additional additives that may cause problems for your car.

PurePlus technology is one of the industry’s leading brands in removing hazardous additives from the oil. With all these properties, it definitely reduces any friction to metal and includes a mud barrier that can lead to poor body build in your vehicle. Oil service process

  • Remove the lower motor cover.
  • Drain the engine oil into a container by removing the oil pan drain plug.
  • After the pan has been drained, fit the drain plug with a new sealing torque of 40 Nm / 30 ft. lbs.
  • Remove the drain plug from the oil filter cap and discard the old O-ring.
  • Oil filter cover Remove drain plug
  • Install the Motivx Tools MX2341 drain tool into the oil filter cap by screwing the hex section of the tool into the bottom of the cap.
  • Insert the hose into the drain container and tighten the knurled ring on the tool to start the oil flow. The hose is intentionally long, but can be cut to any length that works best for you.
  • Once the oil filter cap is empty, remove the drain tool.
  • Install the Motivx Tools MX2320 Oil Filter Wrench on the oil filter cap that indexes the tabs and remove it using either the 3/8″ square drive or 27mm hex drive.
  • For excessively tightened enclosures, we recommend the use of a 6-point 27mm socket outlet with isolating switch strip – whichever length is best for you.
  • Remove and dispose of the waste oil filter and the O-ring from the cap.
  • Clean the inside of the oil filter cap including the threads and O-ring groove.
  • Lightly oil the new O-ring and mount it on the cap. Make sure it is installed in the groove of the O-ring as shown below.
  • Install the new oil filter in the oil filter cap.
  • Be sure the threads and sealing surface on the engine are clean, and hand thread the oil filter cap into the engine ensuring the O-ring seats properly.
  • Tighten the oil filter cap using the MX2320 oil filter wrench to 25 Nm / 18 ft lbs.
  • Lightly oil the new O-ring for the oil filter cap drain valve plug and install it in the groove shown below.
  • Make sure that the threads and sealing surface for the oil filter drain cones on the oil filter cover are clean and mount the drain plug with a torque of 13 Nm / 10 ft lbs.
  • Fill the engine with the recommended amount and type of oil using an oil funnel and check the oil level.
  • Start the engine and check for leaks, then check the oil again and top it up if necessary.
  • Fit the lower engine cover.
